Default Temporary Suspension

Does anyone knows how Guild Wars justifies temporary suspension of account with accusations of buying/selling in game gold for real money? Somehow my account got suspended for doing 1 mission, then doing a few trades. The largest trade for the day includes selling 6 ambraces for 120 ectos. Everything seems fine, then about a few hours later when I try to log in, my account got suspended. Support doesn't seem to check the record correctly and just make accusations of me buying in game gold or equivalence using real money. I know they are trying to keep people away from buying in game gold with real money, but suspending of accounts with legitimate trades doesn't seem to be keeping people away from buying in game gold but rather keeping people away from buying anything NCSoft/Anet has to ever offer.

If anyone can shed some light into this matter, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I do not know the answer to you your question however to maverick thats a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed up statement, we spend over 200$ on this game to play, they can't just ban people for the hell of it. and if you sold something for legitamit prices they shouldn't be banning you for thinking you bought/sold gold. Odds are you did something else for them to bann you

Pretty bad statement if you ask me. Sure, they can do whatever they wan, but did you think for one moment how bad their record would really be if they banned any innocent player they wanted to?

IMO, OP, you need to appeal the suspension, even if its a few days. One suspension counts as a mark on your account, a few more suspends (legit or not) will cause you to be permabanned.

Unless you've advertised somewhere public, 'private deals' with real money trading is hard to prove unless the other person sold you out.

Sure they could look at in-game chat, but they're unlikely to go after you unless you were being suspicious.

So either you did do real life trading and are just here to whine about being banned, or you've done something highly suspicious. Like receiving a very large sum of in-game currency from another player in an empty trade?

Nope. I didn't advertised anything that involves real money. All I did was sold some ambraces and the trade happens to be 6 ambraces for 120 ectos in 1 transaction. That was the biggest trade I did in game for that day. All of my trades whether it is in game gold or equivalent currencies (z-keys, ectos) involves trading actual items that are in deed about market prices. I wouldn't whine about being banned if I did something non legitimate. I don't even bother to whine about being scammed since it happened many times before. But if those incompetent staff at Anet would look at the actual items being traded, they would've noticed that the trades are legitimate. The only other factor I can think of is unless I was trading with someone who is probably a gold seller, but how would I know and distinguish that in game?

Btw, advertisement like this shouldn't constitute suspicions right? WTS Ambraces 21 ectos each...

Hmm, don't they directly ban for RMT? Since when has Anet started giving out suspensions for it?

It's possible that the other party is a RMT. Which sounds much more likely if you were only temp banned. You can contact support and ask for an explanation. You can blow off steam here where people will understand your problem, but there is nothing we can do for you.

No, what you said you did shouldn't be suspicious or rule-breaking.

Firstly, getting banned today doesn't mean you did something bad today, or even yesterday. You could have done something bad in the past - I assume it takes some time for staff to investigate reports or 'suspicious' activity.

If you accidentally traded with a RMT, then that could be cause for suspicion. Which is why as people have already suggested, you really should appeal the ban if you honestly don't know whey you were suspended.

From their point of view, if they find a RMT and find someone that the RMT has given a lot of in-game gold to, how can they tell whether the person paid in real money?

Unfortunately RMTs are both a legal and financial issue (as well as being an ethical / fairness issue), two things which companies tend to take *very* seriously. Which I guess sometimes means innocent players may get hammered.

If you believe you have been mistakenly banned I suggest you contact NCSoft support. There's really no other advice that can be given in cases like these.
